Japan steps up efforts to attract foreign funds

Japanese financial authorities have opened an office in central Tokyo with an English-speaking team to help foreign funds and others start a business in the country.

The Financial Market Entry Office is located in Kabutocho, Japan's financial center and home to the Tokyo Stock Exchange. The office had been operating at a temporary facility in the Financial Services Agency building.

The new location serves as a single point of contact for foreign entrants. A team of 12 English-speaking staff offers a full range of services from consultation to registration. It will also supervise the registered entities.

The government is looking beyond the pandemic as it looks to enhance Japan's appeal as an international financial center.
