Tropical Storm Nepartak continues to move toward the coast of northeastern Japan.

The storm could bring intense weather to areas further north when it makes landfall later Tuesday or early Wednesday.

Japan's Meteorological Agency is warning of torrential downpours, high waves, and wind gusts topping 100 kilometers per hour.

Nepartak will likely bring thunderstorms and dump 180 millimeters of rain on coastal areas over the next day.

Officials are also telling residents there could be mudslides, swollen rivers, and flooding in low-lying areas.
